IRST Members
The Independent Research and Science Team (IRST) acts somewhat as a “Board of Directors” to oversee the production of “best available science” (set by them per OAR 629-603-0400(4)) to implement the research agenda decided upon by the Adaptive Management Program Committee (AMPC) and the Oregon Board of Forestry, for informing policy decisions. This work will be primarily via requests for proposals for science. The IRST will have staff support from OSU’s Institute for Natural Resources, and will work in coordination with the rest of the Adaptive Management Program via Oregon Department of Forestry's Adaptive Management Program Coordinator.
The IRST workload is spread throughout the year. We estimate that their workload will average 4-6 hours per month, with one or two months per year needing up to 10-14 hours of work per month. Though the meeting schedule is likely irregular, we anticipate 4-6 meetings per year, with monthly meetings at the beginning since ramping up will require a more focused, sustained effort.
