Rangeland Carbon

Although there are many knowledge gaps in our understanding of carbon dynamics in the sagebrush ecosystem, partners are interested in information on how management activities impact carbon and opportunities for climate mitigation and adaptation. INR is working with partners to synthesize the state of the science on this topic and provide technical transfer on best practices for managing carbon in sagebrush rangelands. Our first product is a storymap on conserving carbon in sagebrush country, and in 2025 we are delving into the state of the science on carbon and conifer encroachment in sagebrush steppe. Stay tuned for updates.
